Default Has anyone had any bad experiences with Mountain Bikes from Canadian Tires?

Has anyone bought any dual suspesnion mountain bikes from Canadian tires that broke on them. I am thinking about buying a dual suspesnion bike from canadian tires for riding in the trails. I do not want to spent a lot of money on a bike, I just want a decent bike for the trails under 300 dollars. Please give me some of your advice. Thanks

I highy reccomend you do not by a full suspension bike for off roading trails with that price. The low cost of the bike, and it;s rear suspension system costs more, therefore the bike will have cheap, and possible unreliable parts. I have never heard of that tire brand, but brands I would suggest to you are Maxxis especially, and panaracer or kenda. http://www.rscycle.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8064/.f?sc=2&category=4959 here is a pretty good FS bike for 300 even, though without shipping. (I wouldnt reccomend buying a FS bike under $1,000, but some are decent.)You could always buy a trek 820 for at most 260, and add some new better tires though.Hope this helps.

It's Canadian TIre. Anyways, if you want a bike that will last, spend more than $99.99 on it. Go to a real bike store. $300.00 won't cut it for a bike that will last on the trails. If you are really serious, you'll have to put out the cash. Sorry.

In 12 years, and over 65 thousand bicycles, I have only seen 7 bikes returned for frame defects from the Canadian Tire stores that I work for. The most important factor is the mechanic that built the bike from the box. If a bike is assembled and set-up properly everything will work as intended. Check all the bikes on the rack, they should be consistant, every bike built the same, the store should have only one mechanic, a good mechanic can easily build all the bikes for one store. Watch for a sale, at this time of year, last years bikes are on clearance, at least $100 off bikes in the 3 to 4 hundred range.
